VP Shettima Engages Nigerian Diaspora in New York

Vice President Shettima met with the Nigerian diaspora community at the Nigeria House in New York, where he sought their support for the administration's efforts to reposition the economy. He emphasized the importance of the diaspora as a vital resource for the future and noted the administration's focus on education, health, science and technology, and agriculture.

Shettima praised President Tinubu for his courageous reforms, which have reportedly increased the country’s foreign reserves from $3.9 billion to over $55 billion and achieved a 4.45% growth in the last quarter. He assured that these reforms would enhance the safety of diaspora remittances and stabilize the exchange rate.

Additionally, he discussed the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which has provided N125 billion to over 1.29 million Nigerian students in tertiary institutions. Addressing security challenges, he stated that the administration is committed to tackling these issues and called for national unity.

Present at the event were several governors and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
