Shettima Urges NEC to Continue Economic Reforms

On Thursday, during a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima urged the council to sustain ongoing economic reforms until tangible improvements are seen in job creation, purchasing power, business confidence, and living conditions for Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of the government remaining focused on implementing policies beyond mere announcements.

Shettima pointed out that key economic factors such as revenue, debt, production, investment, and the cost of living converge at the household level, making it crucial for macroeconomic improvements to benefit ordinary Nigerians. He also warned that new priorities should not overshadow unfinished government responsibilities.

Furthermore, he stated that President Bola Tinubu has tasked the NEC with ensuring productive cooperation across the federation and converting policies into visible outcomes for the populace.
