WAEC Releases 2026 WASSCE Results: 61.54% Pass Rate

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) officially released the results for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, revealing that 61.54% of candidates achieved at least five credits, including the compulsory subjects of English Language and Mathematics. A total of 1,200,514 out of 1,950,726 candidates who sat for the examination secured credits in a minimum of five subjects.

The examination was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with nearly 1.96 million candidates from over 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria participating. WAEC noted an increase in the adoption of the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) option among schools compared to previous years, although most candidates still used the traditional pen-and-paper format.

Candidates can check their results by generating a Personal Identification Number (PIN) on the WAEC website, which requires their examination number, National Identification Number (NIN), and contact details for OTP verification. The results were released approximately 45 days after the examination concluded.
