Super Falcons Triumph Over Egypt in WAFCON 6-2 Victory

The Super Falcons, under the leadership of coach Justin Madugu, secured a decisive 6-2 victory against Egypt in their final group match of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The match featured four penalty kicks awarded by the referee, influenced by VAR reviews.

Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring for Nigeria with a penalty in the 21st minute, marking her second goal in two matches. Gift Monday, who replaced Oshoala due to injury, extended Nigeria's lead just before halftime.

Egypt responded with a penalty converted by Nadine Ghazi in added time. Uchenna Kanu scored shortly after coming on in the second half, and Nigeria added two more penalties converted by Christy Ucheibe and Raheedat Ajibade, while Ghazi scored again for Egypt.

Joy Omewa capped the scoring deep into injury time. With this victory, Nigeria finished Group C with six points, placing them as runners-up behind Malawi, who topped the group.

Nigeria will face the winner of Group D, likely Cameroon, on August 9 at the Larbi Zaouli stadium in Casablanca.
