Super Falcons Face Egypt for WAFCON Quarter-Final Spot

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to play Egypt in a decisive match for a quarter-final ticket in the Women Africa Cup of Nations finals on Wednesday. Nigeria, the defending champions, aims to recover from a surprising defeat to debutants Malawi in their opening match.

They bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Zambia, putting them in a position to advance if they defeat Egypt. Egypt has struggled in the tournament, suffering a 6-0 loss to Zambia and a 3-1 defeat to Malawi.

Coach Justin Madugu faces challenges as he must replace defender Tosin Demehin and midfielder Jennifer Echegini, both ruled out due to disciplinary issues. Demehin was sent off against Zambia, while Echegini received two yellow cards in previous matches.

Madugu is expected to adjust his lineup, potentially starting Christy Ucheibe alongside Osinachi Ohale in defense and Toni Payne in midfield, with Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde also likely to feature. Uchenna Kanu and Asisat Oshoala may lead the attack.
