Flamingos Triumph 4-0 Over Togo to Win WAFU-U17 Cup

The Nigeria U-17 Women’s team, known as the Flamingos, secured the championship title at the 2026 WAFU-U17 Girls’ Cup with a decisive 4-0 victory over Togo on Sunday in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. Under the leadership of Coach Hakeem Busari, the Flamingos completed the tournament with an impressive record, winning all five of their matches, which included victories against Ghana and the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire.

Captain Chidi Harmony played a pivotal role in the final match, scoring two goals from the penalty spot in the 15th and 35th minutes. The team added two more goals in the second half, with contributions from Olubebube Umejiaku and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi in the 67th and 90th minutes, respectively.

Following the victory, Captain Chidi Harmony expressed pride in the team's achievement, particularly in winning all five matches. The Flamingos are now set to focus on their preparations for the U-17 World finals, scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, where they will compete in Group B alongside North Korea, Puerto Rico, and Poland.
