D'Tigress Ready for FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in Lyon

The Nigerian women's basketball team, D'Tigress, has arrived in Lyon, Villeurbanne, France, to prepare for the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers. Coach Rena Wakama spoke to the NBBF media team, expressing confidence in the team's readiness to face strong opponents in the tournament.

Wakama emphasized the importance of the preparation process, stating it provides an opportunity to test the team against formidable competition. The final roster consists of 12 players, blending experience with youth, which Wakama described as a balanced mix.

He noted the integration of younger talent brings fresh energy and competitiveness, while the team focuses on faster transitions and stronger defense. Wakama acknowledged the expectations from millions of Nigerians at home and abroad, reaffirming the team's commitment to perform at their best.

The D'Tigress will begin their qualifying campaign on March 11, 2026, against Colombia, followed by games against Korea and the Philippines, with the FIBA World Cup scheduled to take place in Germany later that year from March 14-17.
