Malawi Coach Confident Ahead of Falconets Rematch

Malawi's U-20 women's head coach, Maggi Chombo, expressed confidence in her team's ability to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Nigeria in the second leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifier. The first leg, held on Saturday, saw Nigeria's Falconets secure a win with an own goal from Maureen Kenneth and a second goal from Ifeanyi.

Despite the loss, Chombo believes her team can turn the tie around, stating they will focus on improving their performance in key areas before the return leg. The match is scheduled for May 9 at Bingu National Stadium, with a kickoff time of 3 PM Malawi time (2 PM Nigeria time).

Nigeria's head coach, Mose Adukwu, will lead his side into the second leg with a two-goal cushion, but Chombo remains optimistic about her team's chances of success.
