Ondo Parents Lament as University of Medical Sciences Hikes School Fees to ₦2.6 Million

Parents in Ondo State are expressing distress over the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, raising school fees to ₦2.6 million for the 2025-2026 academic session, up from ₦1,683,500 for indigenes and ₦2,245,000 for non-indigenes in the previous session. The increment excludes additional charges like ₦20,000 for post-UTME forms and ₦100,000 for acceptance fees.

Parents are struggling to cope with the financial burden, with some resorting to borrowing money to pay fees. They are calling on Governor Lucki Aiyedatiwa to intervene and reduce the fees to prevent students from dropping out due to economic hardship.

The parents emphasize that the latest fee hike exacerbates the economic challenges faced by families in Nigeria, urging the governor and civil society groups to address the issue promptly to avoid dire consequences.
