Niger Governor Bago Vows to Tackle Banditry in State

Niger State Governor Bago declared the state's readiness to confront bandits and their informants during a statement made on Thursday. In a video published, he warned bandits and their informants to reveal themselves to security agencies.

Governor Bago's remarks followed a visit where he met with the emir to discuss the disruption of school and agricultural activities caused by banditry. He disclosed that the government has received support from the federal government and international partners to strengthen operations against criminal insecurity, which has severely affected education and agriculture in the state.

The governor emphasized that banditry has set back Niger State, urging residents to cooperate by providing information about bandits instead of harboring them. He stressed the use of technology to monitor communities and linked criminal activities to informants.

Bago warned that anyone found in contact with bandits would be added to a list of wanted individuals, holding himself accountable to ensure action is taken.
