ADC Collaborates with Accord to Defeat APC in Osun

Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), announced that the party strategically collaborated with the Accord Party during the August 15 Osun State governorship election to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from reclaiming power. In the election, ADC's candidate, Najeem Salaam, secured third place with 17,180 votes, while incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party won with 511,067 votes, defeating APC's Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.

Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC viewed the election as a success despite Salaam's loss, as their primary goal was to stop the APC. He explained that the collaboration was a deliberate strategy to consolidate opposition support and prevent vote-splitting among anti-APC candidates.

Abdullahi expressed confidence that the outcome demonstrated the potential for opposition parties to challenge the APC in future elections, particularly the 2027 presidential election, if they unite.
