Nigeria Immigration Service Denies Passport Confiscation Drama at Airport

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) responded to allegations of confiscating Senator Natasha Akpoti's passport at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, stating it was part of routine clearance procedures. Senator Akpoti accused the Senate President of ordering the airport incident to prevent her from traveling abroad.

The NIS clarified that the lawmaker was not detained and no passport seizure occurred. This incident follows a similar episode involving Senator Uduaghan.

Senator Akpoti plans legal action against what she perceives as political harassment. The NIS has not issued a formal statement addressing the allegations.
