Accord Party Addresses De-registration Rumors Amid Lawsuit

The Accord Party has publicly clarified that it has met all constitutional requirements to avoid de-registration, countering rumors circulated by political opponents. Joseph Omorogbe, the party's national secretary, issued a statement on Monday, asserting that the party adheres to the provisions of the constitution and electoral guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He criticized the allegations as politically motivated and emphasized that the party remains a viable platform for Nigerians seeking to address the country's challenges. The statement also mentioned that former lawmakers who initiated a lawsuit for the party's de-registration are out of touch with political realities.

Omorogbe highlighted that the party has gained support from various political figures, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and has a presence in 24 state houses of assembly. He condemned the lawsuit as a significant threat to democracy and called it a mockery of the Attorney General's office, which he described as excessively partisan.
