Accord Party Defends Against AGF's De-registration Move

The Accord Party has responded to the Attorney General of the Federation's (AGF) push for its de-registration, asserting that it meets the constitutional threshold to remain registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Joseph Omorogb, the party's National Public Secretary, stated that the AGF's claims are unfounded and politically motivated, highlighting the party's compliance with the 1999 Constitution.

The party pointed to its recent electoral successes, including winning two councillorship seats in Jigawa State during the October 2024 elections. Additionally, it noted that it had previously secured a certificate of return for a candidate in Imo State, which was later nullified by an election tribunal.

The Accord Party maintains that it has satisfied all electoral requirements and views the AGF's actions as an attempt to destabilize the party. The party remains confident that the ongoing legal proceedings will not adversely affect its standing as it prepares for upcoming elections.
