APC's Chidi Wihioka Vows Victory in Ikwerre for 2027

Chidi Wihioka, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of the House of Representatives, stated that the APC will secure victory in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State during the 2027 general elections. In a viral video, Wihioka addressed supporters and urged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, not to be concerned about obtaining votes from Ikwerre, which is the hometown of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who is also the vice-presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

While Wihioka did not explicitly name Amaechi, he referenced the former governor when discussing political control in the region. He claimed that those attempting to influence Ikwerre's political direction would face resistance, asserting that he and his allies are familiar with the local political landscape.

Wihioka stated, “At the appropriate time, we will cage him,” indicating a strategy to counteract opposition. He also mentioned that if the unnamed politician chose to boycott the elections, APC supporters would ensure his exit from the political scene.
