ADC Warns of Election Participation Issues Due to Court Delay

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed alarm over the Supreme Court's delay in delivering a judgment concerning a leadership dispute that could hinder its participation in the 2027 general elections. A letter sent to Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun on April 28, 2026, by the ADC's legal team, which is linked to former Senate President David Mark, highlights the urgency of the situation.

The Supreme Court had heard the case on April 22, 2026, and reserved its judgment without providing a date for its delivery. The five-member panel, led by Justice Moham Garba, is reviewing an appeal that challenges an earlier ruling from a lower court.

The ADC warns that the delay in judgment could prevent the party from meeting the necessary conditions to participate in the upcoming elections, as the electoral body has already acted based on previous court rulings, leaving the ADC without recognized leadership despite being a registered political party.
