Supreme Court to Rule on ADC Leadership Dispute April 30

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has set a judgment date for April 30, 2026, concerning a leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The case involves a challenge from Ralph Nwosu and Nafiu Bala Gomb against the faction led by David Mark.

The court had previously reserved judgment after a five-member panel, led by Justice Moham Garba, heard the final written addresses from both parties. The dispute arose from a March 12 judgment by the Court of Appeal, which ordered the party to maintain the status quo.

Mark's faction argues that the appellate court exceeded its jurisdiction and that the matter is strictly an internal party affair. The ADC's counsel has expressed concerns about the potential disenfranchisement of millions of Nigerians if the judgment is delayed, particularly with the 2027 general elections approaching.

The court has been urged to deliver its judgment promptly to avoid leaving the ADC without recognized leadership.
