Job Seekers in Niger State Allege Police Recruitment Scam, Demand Refunds

Job seekers in Niger state have accused two serving police officers attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) at the Niger State Police Command Headquarters in Dutsen Kura, Minna, of defrauding them of over ₦700,000. The victims alleged that Inspector Usman Moham and SP Nura collected money from them during the 2023/2024 police constable recruitment exercise, promising them employment in the Nigeria Police Force.

The victims, who hail from Niger state but currently reside in Kano, stated that the officers asked for payments in installments, totaling over ₦700,000. Despite making multiple payments, the victims were not shortlisted for training or offered employment.

The victims have demanded refunds, but the officers have allegedly been delaying the repayment process. Evidence of payments made to multiple accounts, including those linked to the accused officers, has been provided.
