Northern Governors Condemn Maiduguri Bomb Explosions

The Northern State Governors Forum condemned the deadly bomb explosions that occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, on a Monday. The explosions happened almost simultaneously at various locations, including the University of Maiduguri, Teaching Hospital, Monday Market, and the post office area, leading to fear, several deaths, and injuries.

Yahaya, the Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the forum, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and extended condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly to families who lost loved ones in the blasts. He described the attacks as senseless acts of violence aimed at instilling fear and undermining the fragile peace in the Northeast.

Yahaya sympathized with the injured, who are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, and praised the first responders and security agencies for their swift intervention in managing the aftermath of the explosions. He reaffirmed the governors' resolve to work closely with the federal government and security agencies to combat terrorism and other criminal threats in the region, urging residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security efforts.
