Farouq Aliyu Rejects Wike's Attempt to Influence APC

Farouq Aliyu, the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, stated that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, will not be permitted to use the All Progressives Congress (APC) to build his own party. Aliyu made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.

This statement follows Wike's recent criticism of APC governors, whom he labeled as “politically lazy.” Wike's comments were in response to a communique from Hope Uzodimma, the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, which indicated that the APC governors rejected any alliances that could jeopardize the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and other candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Aliyu expressed gratitude for Wike's contributions but asserted that Wike's perceived arrogance would not be accepted within the APC, emphasizing that he cannot infiltrate the party under the guise of supporting Tinubu.
