Governor Makinde Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP Ahead of 2027

On Monday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State addressed PDP stakeholders at the local government house secretariat in Ibadan, dismissing speculation about his potential defection from the party. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, emphasizing that the party is not collapsing despite ongoing challenges.

Makinde stated that the PDP will present candidates for the 2027 general elections and urged party members to unite and build strategies for the upcoming polls. He announced that party leaders across the state should convene meetings to resolve internal disputes and reach acceptable agreements.

Additionally, he confirmed that first-term members of the Oyo State House of Assembly would automatically receive tickets based on existing agreements, including zoning arrangements. Makinde expressed confidence in the PDP's chances not only for 2027 but for the future of democracy in Nigeria, highlighting the need for collective effort and readiness to face challenges.
