Defence Minister Promises Enhanced Welfare for Staff

On Monday, during a Town Hall meeting at the Ministry of Defence's headquarters, Ship House in Abuja, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), the Minister of Defence, assured ministry staff of enhanced welfare packages and improved working conditions. He urged personnel to remain vigilant and proactive in mitigating safety risks, adopting the mantra “See something, say something.” This meeting aimed to establish direct communication between leadership and staff, identify operational gaps, and address pressing workforce concerns.

General Musa reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to improving civil servants' welfare, describing them as the government's engine room. He called for strengthened civil-military cooperation and announced plans for structured engagement programs.

Mrs. Bosede Olaniyi, Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, praised the initiative for reinforcing open communication. Mr. Dahiru Goronyo, President of the Joint Executive Council of the Ministry of Defence Union, presented key welfare issues, including delays in third-party remittance deductions and promotion matters, which the Minister promised to address promptly.
