Defence Minister Calls for Enhanced Security Awareness

On Monday, during a Town Hall meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters, Ship House, Abuja, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), the Minister of Defence, called for heightened security awareness among ministry personnel. He emphasized the critical role of civilian workers in Nigeria's security architecture and encouraged them to report suspicious activities, adopting the mantra “See something, say something.” This meeting marked the first direct engagement between the minister and ministry staff, aimed at improving communication and addressing operational gaps.

Musa praised the dedication of the staff and reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration's commitment to enhancing civil servants' welfare. He highlighted the need for cooperation between civilian employees and military personnel and announced plans for structured engagement programs.

Concerns regarding personnel welfare, including delays in remittance deductions and promotion issues, were raised by Mr. Dahiru Goronyo, President of the Joint Executive Council of the Ministry of Defence Union. The minister assured staff that their concerns would be addressed promptly.
