Sam Amadi Predicts Deteriorating Democracy by 2027

Sam Amadi, the director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, stated during a Tuesday interview on Arise Television's prime time program that Nigeria is likely to experience a deterioration in its democratic practices by 2027. He criticized the political parties for their lack of internal democracy and described the judiciary as a "hopeless case." Amadi also highlighted the Electoral Act, which he claimed sought to exclude judicial review, as a significant concern.

He made these remarks during a citizen town hall meeting on the Electoral Act 2026 held in Abuja, the nation's capital. Additionally, he referenced a bipartisan audit of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its technology, indicating ongoing issues with the electoral process in Nigeria.
