FG Denies Signed Agreement with ASUU, Negotiations Continue

The Federal Government of Nigeria has clarified that there is no signed agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, revealed that the documents referenced by ASUU are proposals and not valid agreements.

ASUU had threatened to go on an indefinite strike if the government did not meet their demands, including implementing resolutions from previous agreements. The government remains committed to resolving issues with university lecturers, with ongoing negotiations to address the union's concerns.

Despite ASUU's warnings of a strike, the government maintains that the documents cited are not binding agreements but proposals subject to negotiation.
