ASUU Demands Action from FG on 2009 Agreement, Rejects Delay Tactics

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) expressed frustration with the Nigerian government's lack of action on agreements made in 2009, emphasizing the need for tangible progress. ASUU's National President, Tunji Alausa, revealed that a technical committee, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Abel Enitan, is working on a proposal to address the longstanding issues.

ASUU insists that the 2009 agreement remains the standard for lecturer welfare and demands a review. The union rejected the government's plan, stating that only a genuine and workable proposal would be acceptable.

ASUU criticized the government for delays and called for concrete steps to be taken.
