Imran U. Wakili commented on the sudden release of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

He argued that El-Rufai's prolonged detention was unjust and not based on proven wrongdoing, suggesting that the state authorities aimed to humiliate him. Wakili's remarks came shortly after the death of El-Rufai's mother, Hajiya Umma, which he noted could have influenced the timing of the release.
