Ondo State Faces Rising Insecurity Amid Kidnappings

Ondo State is experiencing a surge in violent crime, particularly in rural areas and urban centers, causing significant concern among residents and elites. Recently, six worshippers from a Celestial Church in Uso, Owo LGA, were abducted, with a ransom of N5 million reported for their release.

This incident has raised alarms about the safety of high-profile individuals and the overall security situation in the state. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is facing criticism for his perceived lack of visible leadership and proactive measures in addressing these security challenges.

However, the administration asserts that actions are being taken behind the scenes, including the mobilization of Amotekun Corp to intensify operations across 18 local government areas. Despite these measures, residents remain uneasy about the rising incidents of kidnapping and violent crime, questioning the effectiveness of the government's response to the escalating insecurity.
