Kwara, Niger Governors Unite Against Rising Insecurity

On a recent Monday, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq welcomed a delegation from Niger State, led by Governor Moham Umaru Bago, to address the challenges of insecurity following a terrorist attack in the Borgu Emirate Area. During the meeting, the two governors discussed the need for joint security strategies, intelligence sharing, and coordinated actions to curb cross-border criminal activities.

Abdulrazaq, who is also the chairman of the Nigeria Governor Forum (NGF), described the attack as tragic and devastating, noting the loss of lives and displacement of residents, which stripped them of their livelihoods. He stressed the importance of sustained cooperation among subnational governments and security agencies to tackle the growing threats, particularly in areas near the forest border between Kwara and Niger states.

The governors highlighted the alarming trend of terrorism, including killings and kidnappings, with recent figures indicating over 600 fatalities and significant ransom payments. They emphasized the need for swift action and resource deployment to protect lives and properties.
