Remi Tinubu's N15 Billion Donations Raise Funding Questions

Remi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has become a prominent figure in the Renewed Hope agenda, facilitating cash donations exceeding N15 billion through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) from July 2023 to July 2026. In 2025, she raised over N25 billion via the Oluremi@65 Education Fund for the National Library in Abuja.

The funding sources for these initiatives are questioned, as her office is not constitutionally recognized nor included in the national budget. Donations made include N2.184 billion in 2023, N3.745 billion in 2024, N6.15 billion in 2025, and N2.12 billion in the first seven months of 2026.

Significant contributions include N2 billion for the Akwete weaving industry in Abia State and N50 million to support 1,000 women in Osun State. Other initiatives include scholarships, digital literacy programs, and support for displaced families, with a total of N1.85 billion targeting 37,000 women petty traders across several states.
