Talay Riley, British-Nigerian Songwriter, Dies at 35

Talay Riley, a British-Nigerian songwriter recognized for his contributions to the music industry, was tragically killed at the age of 35 in a stabbing incident on Pankhurst Avenue, Silvertown, East London, on a Friday. Emergency services responded but were unable to save him.

The Metropolitan Police's homicide detective specialist crime command has initiated a murder investigation, resulting in the arrest of three individuals connected to the attack; one has been released on bail while a second man and a woman were released with no further action taken. Riley's family confirmed his death, expressing their overwhelming sadness in a statement.

He was a Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum songwriter who began his career in East London and was known for writing major hits for artists including Britney Spears, Khalid, and Chip. His notable works included co-writing Khalid's "Young Dumb & Broke," which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and collaborating with Craig David on three tracks for Spears' ninth studio album in 2016.
