Amaechi and Five Governors Exit PDP Over Discontent

Former Senator Murrai Bruce disclosed that Rotimi Amaechi, the former Governor of Rivers State, along with five other governors, departed from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) due to a crisis that weakened the party's rule and resulted in poor decision-making. This situation was exacerbated by bad advice given to former President Goodluck Jonathan by his close aides.

Bruce noted that there was a growing dissatisfaction among key PDP governors, which was ignored by Jonathan's administration despite clear signs of discontent. He emphasized that Amaechi and others expressed concerns about the deteriorating situation within the party, warning that urgent steps were needed to resolve internal disputes.

However, when Amaechi sought to meet with top officials to address these tensions, he was met with a dismissive attitude. Bruce criticized the failure to engage with aggrieved governors at the right time, which ultimately cost the PDP dearly in the political landscape.
