APC Delays Formal Welcome for Governor Fubara's Defection

Governor Fubara's transition from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not been met with an official welcome from the APC leadership. Despite his declaration of defection, which occurred on December 9, 2025, and his receipt of the party's registration card bearing number 001, the formal reception has not taken place.

APC state chairman Toni Okocha noted that the party has not yet received Governor Fubara, who is among several governors, including Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Muftwang Caleb of Plateau State, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, who have also defected to the APC. The absence of a grand reception for Governor Fubara, despite the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries, highlights potential internal challenges within the APC regarding the integration of new members.
