Oyabambi Critiques APC Over Lawmaker Defections in Kwara

Otunba Adetunji Oyabambi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, condemned the Kwara State House of Assembly's decision to declare the seats of two lawmakers vacant after their defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP. Oyabambi characterized this action as a desperate political maneuver, questioning why the administration led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Assembly's leadership felt threatened by the lawmakers' political shift.

He expressed concerns over political intolerance within the APC, suggesting that the government was misusing state institutions to hinder political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections. Oyabambi specifically criticized Speaker Salihu Yakubu-Danladi, who is also the APC's 2027 governorship candidate, for allowing his political ambitions to compromise the independence of the Assembly.

He urged both AbdulRazaq and Danladi to focus on governance and the needs of the people rather than suppressing political competition.
