Kwara PDP Alerts on Possible Suspension of Defecting Lawmakers

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed alarm regarding an alleged plan by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, to suspend two lawmakers, Hon. Olushola Odetundun and Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP.

The PDP claims that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq directed Danladi to initiate proceedings against the lawmakers, which the party argues would constitute political intolerance and an abuse of legislative powers. The PDP emphasized that political affiliation should not be grounds for suspension, as it could deprive the constituents of Irepodun and Edu of effective representation.

The party acknowledged the House's authority to regulate its affairs but insisted that such powers must align with constitutional limits. The PDP urged Danladi, who is a candidate for the governorship in 2027, to respect political dissent and warned that it would use lawful means to challenge any actions undermining democracy.
