Court Orders Arrest of Former INEC Chairman Yakubu for Non-Compliance

The Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun state, ordered the arrest and imprisonment of former INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for failing to comply with a court judgment. The court ruling stemmed from a suit filed by Action Alliance seeking the reinstatement of Rufai as a member of the national executive committee of INEC.

The plaintiff also requested the committal of INEC and Mahmood Yakubu for disobeying the court order. The court had previously ruled the removal of Rufai from the INEC portal as unconstitutional.

This development comes as Yakubu officially stepped down as the chairman of INEC after completing his tenure.
