In a statement shared on her Instagram page, she responded to criticisms suggesting that such scenes contribute to the breakdown of marriages among actors.

Stephen pointed out that actors and their spouses are aware of the demands of the profession and should accept these realities before entering marriage. While she prefers to create family-friendly films and does not prioritize kissing scenes, she acknowledges their necessity for storytelling.

Stephen emphasized that the responsibility for maintaining marital integrity lies with the actors and their spouses, not with filmmakers. She noted that actors can set personal boundaries regarding intimate scenes based on their beliefs.

Her role as a producer or director is to create a professional environment and present actors effectively, not to interfere in their personal lives.
