Biodun Stephen: Not Responsible for Actors' Marriages

Biodun Stephen, a Nigerian movie producer, addressed criticisms regarding kissing scenes in Nollywood, asserting that it is not her duty to protect actors' marriages. In an Instagram video, she explained that actors and their spouses are aware of the profession's demands and must manage their relationships accordingly.

Stephen emphasized that directors should not be blamed for marital issues stemming from on-screen roles, as actors have the right to decline kissing scenes based on personal beliefs. She stated, “My job as producer or director is to protect you as actors... but my job is not to break your home because that’s not on me.” She acknowledged that while kissing is not a primary aspect of her craft, she would embrace it if the story requires it, as it contributes to the believability of the characters and the chemistry portrayed on screen.
