Wike Explains Fubara's Inability to Seek Second Term

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, explained during his monthly media chat on Channels TV that political crises in Rivers State and poor advice from political associates prevented Governor Siminalayi Fubara from seeking a second term. Wike criticized Fubara for abandoning the political structure that facilitated his rise to power, recalling his own challenges as governor, including inheriting limited resources.

He urged Fubara to build upon the foundation he established, aiming for Rivers State to compete with Lagos. Wike alleged that individuals who initially opposed Fubara later became his allies, misleading him into confronting his political benefactors.

He expressed disappointment that reconciliation efforts failed due to political considerations. Wike also claimed that external forces are attempting to take control of Rivers State for financial gain, warning against allowing such influences to hijack the state's resources.
