Wike Welcomes Fubara Back to Political Fold in Rivers

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, formally welcomed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara back into the political family that supported his rise to power, asserting that Fubara had committed no wrongdoing. Wike dismissed the notion that Fubara required forgiveness, stating, “there is no sin in politics.” This reconciliation comes after a political truce facilitated by President Bola Tinubu, which resolved a prolonged power struggle that had disrupted governance in Rivers State and polarized its House of Assembly.

Wike emphasized that Fubara’s return to the Rainbow Coalition, a dominant political group in Rivers, was essential for moving the state forward and enhancing Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027. Wike remarked that Fubara had publicly acknowledged his return to the coalition, and he expressed openness to collaboration, stating, “Our doors are open.

Everybody is welcome to work with us.” Wike also reflected on the earlier feud, highlighting feelings of betrayal over Fubara's disloyalty during their political conflict.
