Sowore Rejects Opposition Summit, Criticizes Political Actors

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, explained his decision to decline an invitation to an opposition summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State. He criticized the summit as a gathering of "recycled failed political actors" who have contributed to Nigeria's challenges.

Sowore emphasized that there is no need to pretend that a few individuals can champion progress after years of stagnation and corruption. He stated that the African Action Congress would not associate with what he termed a "deceptive political arrangement." Sowore called for a genuine transformation and a people-driven movement that focuses on accountability and integrity.

He further criticized major political parties, including the ADC, PDP, and Labour Party, for representing a political culture that fails to mobilize Nigerians towards a credible vision. The summit, which aimed to unite opposition figures to strengthen democracy, was chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and included notable attendees such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
