Tambuwal Leaves PDP for ADC, Citing Leadership Issues

Aminu Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State, publicly announced his decision to leave the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a food distribution program in Sokoto on Thursday. He expressed that his motivation for this shift was rooted in a commitment to national progress and the need for capable leadership to tackle Nigeria's socio-economic and political challenges.

Tambuwal emphasized that the current political landscape is increasingly divided, with citizens expressing dissatisfaction due to perceived corruption and incompetence within various levels of government, including Sokoto State. He noted that the internal disarray within the PDP has weakened the party's structure, making it difficult for it to function effectively.

Following extensive consultations with over 1,900 political stakeholders, a unanimous decision was reached to adopt the ADC as the preferred platform. Tambuwal expressed confidence that this new political alignment would strengthen democratic competition and provide Nigerians with a credible alternative in future elections.
