Rivers Senator Ipalibo Banigo Joins APC from PDP

On March 10, during a Senate plenary, Rivers Senator Ipalibo Banigo officially announced her resignation from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). In her resignation letter, which was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Banigo expressed her intent to align with the APC to support the development efforts of Rivers State.

Her decision followed extensive consultations with her constituents and political associates. Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, Governor Lawal described himself as the "last man standing" in the PDP, citing ongoing litigation and crises within the party as reasons for his decision to defect to the APC.

Lawal noted that his attempts to achieve peace through court settlements had proven futile, prompting his move to the APC in the interest of the people of Zamfara.
