Bello El-Rufai Resigns from APC, Joins ADC for 2027 Elections

Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North, officially announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a plenary session on May 7, 2026. He stated that his decision was driven by a conviction that the people of Kaduna North deserve better representation and service delivery.

El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, expressed his commitment to continue legislative projects without disruption and confirmed his intention to seek re-election on the ADC platform in the 2027 general elections. He also mentioned that his departure from the APC was not taken lightly and was a result of careful reflection on the political landscape.

El-Rufai disclosed that other representatives, including Suleiman Yahaya and Richifa Soba, had also left the APC to join the ADC, which he believes offers a better opportunity for political engagement and development initiatives in Kaduna North.
