Tambuwal Withdraws from 2027 Senate Race for Unity

Aminu Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State, announced his withdrawal from the 2027 Sokoto South senatorial race to foster unity within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and to create space for younger politicians to emerge. During a strategic stakeholders meeting attended by party loyalists and community leaders, Tambuwal expressed his commitment to mentoring the next generation of leaders, stating that his decision should not be interpreted as retirement from public service but rather as a strategic transition towards guiding young Nigerians in governance.

He endorsed Faruk Malami Yabo, a former finance commissioner, as a capable and visionary leader who can provide purposeful leadership for the people of Sokoto State. Tambuwal's move is seen as a significant shift aimed at consolidating the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing the need for harmony and strengthening internal democracy within the party.

He also mentioned the importance of developing vibrant leaders who can represent the interests of the people effectively.
