Tambuwal Withdraws from Senate Race, Endorses Yabo

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State, has officially withdrawn from the 2027 Sokoto South Senate race, endorsing Faruk Malami Yabo, a former commissioner of finance, as the candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This decision was made to preserve unity within the party following consultations that revealed disagreements over candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections scheduled for February 20, 2027.

In a telephone interview, Lamir Aminu Tambuwal confirmed this development, stating that the withdrawal is a sacrifice for peace and stability within the ADC. The move is intended to strengthen internal democracy and promote harmony within the party's leadership in Sokoto.

Additionally, the ADC aims to provide younger politicians with opportunities to contest for positions. Amid ongoing political realignments within the ADC in Sokoto State, Faruku Umar Fada has emerged as the party's candidate for the Sokoto North and Sokoto South federal constituencies, emphasizing a campaign focused on youth empowerment and education.
