ICPC Arrests Ex-NIMASA Boss Bashir Jamoh Over Corruption Allegations

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has detained former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Bashir Jamoh, over corruption allegations. Jamoh, who headed NIMASA from 2020 to 2023, was arrested for allegedly failing to honor several invitations from the ICPC following a petition accusing him of conferring undue advantages and fraudulent procurement processes.

The arrest came after social media activist Jackson Ude accused Jamoh of diverting ₦1.5 trillion into personal and separate accounts. Jamoh, in a letter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), requested a thorough investigation to clear his name.

However, the EFCC has not publicly concluded its probe into the matter.
