APC Rejects E-Transmission of Election Results Ahead of 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed opposition to the e-transmission of election results, a move that has raised questions regarding their confidence in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party rejected a proposal to amend the Electoral Act to allow for electronic voting, despite previous advocacy for such measures by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which was led by current President Bola Tinubu.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, a spokesperson for the APC, stated that electronic voting would increase electoral costs and destabilize the political atmosphere, which is typically fraught with security concerns during elections. The APC's refusal to support electronic transmission comes despite their dominance in the National Assembly and the recent conduct of electronic registration for their members across 31 states.

The party's actions have drawn criticism, as many believe they are afraid of the potential outcomes that could arise from a more transparent electoral process.
