Tinubu Takes 3-Week Vacation Before 2027 Campaign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu began a three-week annual leave on August 30, 2026, with his first destination being London, United Kingdom, before traveling to other parts of Europe. This vacation comes as preparations for the January 2027 general elections intensify.

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, explained that the break was essential for Tinubu to rest and recharge after approximately six to seven months of intensive governance. Dare emphasized that the timing of the vacation was strategic, as Tinubu is expected to face a demanding political period with intense campaigning ahead.

He also noted that the president would not be fully disengaged from government matters during his leave, continuing to monitor the country's affairs. The announcement aligns with the shifting political landscape in Nigeria as the governing All Progressives Congress ramps up its campaign activities in anticipation of the upcoming elections.
