Nigerian Ruling House Charges ₦10 Million for Traditional Stool Candidacy, Refunds Advised by Ogun State

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Nigeria revealed that they initially set a fee of ₦100 million for those interested in the Awujale Stool but later reduced it to ₦10 million. Ten aspirants have already paid the fee, with discussions ongoing about the selection process.

Owoyemi from the ruling house explained that the funds collected were for administrative purposes and not to influence the selection process. The Ogun State Government intervened, advising that the process should be open and free for eligible family members, with refunds to be completed within three days.

The move came after concerns were raised about potential financial inducements in the selection process, emphasizing the need for transparency and adherence to due process.
